What does ASMC do?

ASMC provides exclusive consultative and practical resources to school districts, regions and states interested in sustaining and advancing inquiry-based programs.

ASMC networks science professionals. ASMC members reconnect annually at the Networking Forum at NSTA’s national conference. Breakfast is combined with idea sharing, conversation and discussions about advances and changes in science education that matter and impact you.

ASMC’s signature event is The Next Step Institute. The Next Step Institute (NSI) began in Mesa, AZ in 1993 as "an advanced leadership institute for elementary science." NSI is presented every other year in partnership with an ASMC member site. Over 2,500 participants from nearly every state and from abroad have attended previous events.

I've always felt that the NEXT STEP Institute is THE best professional development experience I can think of to develop leadership within my own organization - bar none.
Ron DeFronzo, Science Resource Specialist,
East Bay Educational Collaborative

NSI offers a showcase of exemplary materials management systems and strategies, cutting edge use and development of inquiry materials and superior professional development. School leadership teams experience various pathways designed to promote dialog, analysis and planning for success in science.

21st century programming

In 2009 ASMC will launch a portfolio of new services to its members and those new to materials management, inquiry-science and action learning in professional development. Still in development, these offerings reflect insight and demands from our network and others to better support innovation STEM educators and leadership as they transform their students into 21st century citizens.

Funding

ASMC is a 501 (c) 3 membership organization. Membership fees, gifts and grants fund the organization’s activities. ASMC sponsors also provide valuable support.
