ASMC supports those responsible for the delivery of science and other instructional materials to elementary and secondary schools by creating a network of people with specialized expertise and a passion for systemic reform.

ASMC seeks to meet its members' needs by pursuing these objectives:

  • Promote the systemic reform of science education through a unique focus on the management of quality instructional materials. ·
  • Create opportunities for dialog among educators and other persons with interest in or responsibilities in managing instructional materials in science and other subject areas through products and services which include a member’s listserv, a quarterly member’s newsletter, and annual meetings at the National Science Teachers Association's national conference. ·
  • Create opportunities for professional development for educators and other persons with interest in or responsibility to manage instructional materials in science and other subject areas through products and services that include the Next Steps Institute. Planning is now underway for Next Steps '05 in Pittsburgh, PA. ·
  • Develop partnerships with individuals, professional organizations, business/industry and foundations. Our current partners include the Dow Chemical, DuPont Co., Hewlett Packard and Michelin North America. ·
  • Seek funds for the support and further development of ASMC products and services.
